The theme of the conference held during 18-20, December 2014 was same as the research interest of eminent scientist ‘Prof. Ravindra B. Bapat’ of Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi. The conference provided a platform to all his contemporaries to come together to serve the objectives of the conference on the occasion of Prof. Bapat’s 60th birthday. The conference provided an opportunity for the young scholars around the nation, who will be the asset to the future generation, to join the team of eminent scientists.
This conference was in sequence to the conference ‘CMTGIM 2012’ held at Manipal during January 2012. The conference provided a platform for leading mathematicians, statisticians, and applied mathematicians working around the globe in the theme area to discuss several research issues on the topic and to introduce new innovations. The main goal of the conference was to bring experts, researchers, and students together and to present recent developments in this dynamic and important field. The main objective of the workshop held during 02 – 07 January 2012 was to provide a solid foundation and motivation, for the younger generation to have exposure to lectures from leading mathematicians in the area of Combinatorial Matrix Theory and Generalized Inverses of Matrices. Apart from tutorial lecture on these topics, organizers provided an exposure to all participants with allied linear algebra topics through special lectures formal and informal discussion hours. An environment for young scholars to interact with leading mathematicians was also created at the venue. Workshop consisted of regular lecture sessions, tutorials and problem solving sessions.

The International Conference on the same theme, was held during 10 – 11 January 2012, was in continuation of the workshop, and provided a platform for leading mathematicians and applied mathematicians working in the area to discuss several research issues related to the theme of “Combinatorial Matrix Theory and Generalized Inverses of Matrices” and their applications. The Conference provided an ideal opportunity for participants from India and abroad to interact and exchange ideas in the pleasant and academic surroundings.
